Eagles SportsFHS '9' season off to a great start, sweeps Holt Saturday
The Frankenmuth varsity baseball team hosted nonconference Holt for a twinbill on Saturday, April 27.
Playing in temperate but blustery conditions, the Eagles took two from Division 1 Rams, winning 4-3 in the opener and 6-0 in the nightcap. The wins move ‘Muth to 12-5 overall and 5-1 in the Tri-Valley Conference Red Division.
“I was very proud of the team in Saturday’s doubleheader sweep of Holt. We got some good pitching from Jae Shobbrook and Brady Frahm as the freshman got his first varsity win,” FHS Coach Tim Smith said. “In game two, Ryan Hozeska pitched a complete game for the win. It was a great day.”
Game one saw Holt score a single run in the first inning and two more in the second inning before starter Jae Shobbrook settled in. He pitched five and one-third innings, allowing five hits, three runs (two earned) while walking two, hitting one batter, and fanning three Ram batters. .....
