Cass River Paddle & Swim is June 21
The third annual Cass River Paddle and Swim Relay will take place on the first day of summer, Saturday, June 21
Area swimmers and paddlers are invited to join in the camaraderie for the third annual event. Kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and more should meet behind the Tuscola Township Hall at 9:30am, departing from the canoe launch. Swimmers will depart from the 9000 block of Ormes Road at 9am.
The 4-5 mile journey should bring all the participants together in Heritage Park just before noon and during the Relay For Life of Frankenmuth activities in the park.
Swimmers don’t need to be able to swim the entire distance. Swimmers will work together to relay their way downstream. Pontoons will escort the swimmers, providing support and a resting place. Wet suits are recommended for swimmers in case of chilly waters.
Commemorative t-shirts will be available for a small fee. Interested relay swimmers should contact Bill Zehnder at 652-9941 or his email, firstname.lastname@example.org. Paddlers can simply meet at 9:15am at the Tuscola launch.
The event is possible due to the efforts of the Cass River Greenway Committee and their late summer clean-up efforts.
