Free tax preparation sites now open in Saginaw County
Once again this year, free tax preparation is available to Saginaw County residents who meet the IRS Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) guidelines. Through the VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) program free tax preparation will be available at six locations throughout Saginaw County.
Dates, times and locations for Saginaw County VITA sites are listed as follows:
Frankenmuth Credit Union – Town & Country Office, 2796 Erna Drive, Saginaw, Tuesdays and Wednesdays, 9am-3pm; PNC Bank, 1140 S. Outer Drive, Buena Vista, Wednesday and Thursdays, 9am-3pm. Fridays, 9am-5pm; Frankenmuth Credit Union, 580 N. Main St., Frankenmuth, Call for dates and times, appointments only (989-497-1600).
The number of individuals served is based on how many volunteers are able to prepare taxes. It is our policy that if the Public School Districts are closed due to weather related conditions, our VITA sites in that district will be closed that day also. All VITA sites will be closed on Friday, April 18 in observance of Good Friday.
The VITA program is a service of United Way of Saginaw County. The program is sponsored by grants from the Walmart Foundation and the IRS VITA grant program.
