FIRST SATURDAY PROGRAMS . . . are a new offering by the Frankenmuth Historical Association, beginning this Saturday, March 2, from 2-4pm with a program on old fashioned toys. Above, FHA Educational Director Rachael Ramirez demonstrates the use of a homemade “button whizzer” in front of a display of toys from yesteryear. The FHA is offering this new, free program to give families fun opportunities to explore and connect with history. On Saturday, April 6, Egg Decorating the natural way will be the hands-on program, followed by Fun with Textiles – How to Weave It on Saturday, May 4. Other programs slated for 2013 include Scherenschnitte, History Camp. Musical Merry-Making, Delightful Sauerkraut, Heavenly Grapevine Wreaths, Enchanting Corn Husk Dolls and Cheery Christmas Embellishments. (News photo)
