Buzz is building for Coach Izzo's appearance at the Legacy Ball
When legendary Coach Tom Izzo arrives in “Michigan’s Little Bavaria” this spring for the third annual Legacy Ball, he will be welcomed in style by a host of local businesses and individuals who have stepped forward to sponsor the event.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 4, at the Bavarian Inn Restaurant, the annual fundraiser is held to benefit the Frankenmuth Community Foundation. Izzo, the head coach of the Michigan State University men’s basketball program, will be the keynote speaker. The evening will feature a gourmet dinner, entertainment, a silent auction, the introduction of the Foundation’s new executive director Steve List and a few other surprises.
The Emil Rummel Agency and CMI, a New York Risk Services Company, are this year’s presenting sponsors. Joining them in support of the gala event are Covenant HealthCare, Star of the West Milling Company and Tri-Star Trust Bank as well as Air Advantage, Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance, Independent Bank, Rau’s Country Store and Weiss Equipment.
Additional support has been received from Charlin’s Book Nook, Hofbrauhaus of America, Yeo & Yeo and Zehnder & Associates. Many area businesses had donated goods and services for the silent auction.
“We are grateful to have these committed community organizations sponsor what is sure to be an incredible evening,” Legacy Ball Committee Chairman Dennis Krafft said. “Coach Izzo’s incredible popularity has made the Legacy Ball tickets the hottest tickets in town and we couldn’t be more excited.”
Krafft added that the tickets are nearly sold out, but may be obtained with the purchase of a limited number of sponsorship packages.
Thomas D. Zuellig, president of the Emil Rummel Agency, echoed Krafft’s enthusiasm.
“The Rummel Agency has a history of investing in our community and we’re proud to support the foundation in its signature fundraising event,” Zuellig said.
The two previous Legacy Ball events raised a combined total of $63,000 to support the work of the Frankenmuth Community Foundation. The Foundation works to improve life in the Frankenmuth area and is supported by a broad range of donors including families, individuals, businesses and non-profit groups.
The assets of the Foundation are pooled and invested, and earnings from these funds are disbursed as grants to qualified organizations for projects that focus on the core areas of youth and adult leadership, education, recreation and economic growth.
A sampling of past projects and organizations supported by the FCF includes Memorial Park improvements, the Frankenmuth Art Walk, Cass River Greenway Committee, the Cass River fish passage project, City Beautification Committee, Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation Department, Frankenmuth Schools Technology Initiative, Veterans Monument and Memorial Wall, Junior Achievement, Frankenmuth Fire Department and Frankenmuth Historical Museum.
